This is an authentic piece and I find the design fascinating that the baby's head is protected from drafts and the weather. It is narrow in design the baby would have been rocked and probably placed on his back. It is made of pine. I would think this is fairly an early piece as the bottom is not plain smooth. There is evidence of milk paint but it is obviously stripped and polished. It is fastened with square nails and heads are covered in patty which again ages it. This is a collectors piece.
